We have some exciting news to share –
They say that without change, the world cannot move forward! They say that change is generally for the good and should be embraced positively – so that we can grow, experience new things and have the opportunity to make the most of life.
And at Somerset Patchwork, we are about to embark on a new direction that will mean change….a positive change aimed at optimizing our work/life balance while continuing to do the things we love.
The first step in this new direction is to announce that, as of Friday 7th July, we will be closing the doors to our shop in Vermont. It’s a decision that has been in our minds for some time and, coinciding with the end of our premises lease, we believe the time is right.
But….Somerset Patchwork is NOT going away – we are not closing down, going out of business, moving to another place or taking early retirement. We are simply changing our business model, with the underlying premise of continuing to provide high standards of product quality, customer service, inspiration and education, while affording ourselves the opportunity to design and create more new patterns and fabric lines. And enjoy a work/life balance that is more of our choosing, including more time for our family and friends.
To that end, we will continue to offer through our recently launched online store quality reproduction fabrics, original and licensed patterns, BoM programs and carefully selected quilting notions and accessories.
We can’t, nor do we want to, forget or let go of the friends and relationships we’ve made over the past 14 years – we still want to see as many of you as possible, so our commitment to our sewing groups will continue with classes and events to be held at local venues. We will also be looking at increasing the number of shows that we exhibit at. And our much loved 19th Century Fabric Samplings Club will continue as before.
Even our “Seams Like Yesterday” long-arm quilting service will continue to operate….but on a “by appointment” basis.
So a new direction for the business, with some very positive changes for us personally – but still there to be amongst all the positive and exciting things and people that make up the world of patchwork and quilting. And importantly – Karen still gets to play with fabric!!
We hope you will see where we’re going and come with us to embrace the change!
